Stage 1: Introduction to Treatment
This first workbook aims to help young people understand and engage in the treatment process, while recognizing that this will be a very new experience for some. It covers ideas basic to both the treatment of sexually abusive and sexually inappropriate behavior and ideas about treatment itself, at the individual, group, and family level.
The Stage 1 workbook has no written exercises. It more heavily focuses on providing information and orienting young people to treatment than having them complete exercises as they learn. Like all of the workbooks, the Stage 1 workbook has Thinking Points and Key Concepts spread throughout its chapters. Although the focus is on information-giving in this first and shortest workbook, there are as many as 35 questions in the review sections that follow each chapter, and some of these queries have sub-questions within them, all of which test for retention and provide opportunities for learning.

Can these workbooks be used in residential treatment with youth who may or may not have a history of sexual abuse or who may have engaged in unreported sexually abusive behaviors or are involved in CSEC? Our youth are referred by Children & Family Services and/or Juvenile Probation for treatment of a wide range of disruptive behaviors and emotional disturbance. I’m looking for an evidenced-based or evidence-supported treatment program that can be used with these youth.
Yes. They were written by the former clinical director for the Stetson School for exactly this audience.
