Before placing your order, make sure you have the following information:
- The inmate’s prison ID number. This is required. If you don’t have the inmate’s ID number, you can usually find it online by searching “inmate finder” along with the state the inmate is incarcerated in, or by calling the prison.
- The inmate’s mailing address. Most prisons have a specific mailing address for inmates, rather than the physical address of the prison. If you don’t have the inmate's mailing address, it can usually be found on the prison’s website.
Safer Society tries to make ordering easy for its customers through our online bookstore. After you locate the Safer Society Press title(s) you wish to order, add the item(s) to your shopping cart and proceed to checkout. Enter your information in the billing section, and the inmate’s name with ID number and mailing address in the shipping section.
If you would like to place the order over the phone, we are happy to help! Please call the office between 8:30 am and 4:00 om Monday through Friday at 802-247-3132. (Please note our office is closed most National Holidays.)
No, an account is not required.
If you would like to create an account to save your customer information for future orders or track your order history, you can do that during the checkout process. However, an account is not required to make a purchase.
Orders are processed within 1-2 business days. Safer Society uses the United States Postal Service (USPS) for all packages being sent to inmates. Most orders are shipped via Priority Mail and should arrive at the prison within 2-3 days. Please note that once a package arrives at the prison, it may take a week or more for the mail room to deliver the books to the inmate.
If you order through our website or provide an email address when you order over the phone, we will email you the tracking number for the package.
Some prisons have an official process that inmates must use to get permission from the prison to receive packages. If the inmate doesn’t get permission before you order, the mail room may not deliver the package to the inmate.
Please check with the inmate or the prison before you order.
