A New Approach to EMDR and the Treatment of Problematic Sexual Behavior
OnlineResearch shows that individuals who sexually offend have higher levels of adverse childhood experiences than either the general population or other criminal populations. Often, these experiences lead to challenges in regulating emotion, and in forming intimate relationships, healthy sexual attitudes and beliefs, and prosocial attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. These challenges can contribute to sex offending as well as problems with repetitive, compulsive sexual behavior.
